Our flagship product is the Verbal Options Simulator (VOS), which allows Law Enforcement Officers to quickly develop verbal skills and understand their importance within the larger Social Intelligence picture. VOS utilizes patented new technology and the infinite patience and 24×7 availability of technology to construct realistic simulations that are always there when you are ready to learn. Available on computers, tablets, and other mobile devices, you get the repetition and structure that you need to learn deeply and quickly.

Each encounter requires the officer to respond verbally, while considering outside factors relating to the overall scene and situation and the mental state of the subject in the conversation. Responses are defined in broad terms, with Key Elements that constitute a complete answer clearly defined. These Key Elements also serve as a requirement during evaluations for delivering an appropriate response. The Social Intelligence Institute (SII) is a minority-owned, not-for-profit organization that offers the most innovative, scientifically-backed online socioemotional curriculum for people of all backgrounds. The SI Institute’s mission is to provide affordable, cutting edge training programs that improve the social and emotional intelligence of individuals, communities, and organizations. For law enforcement, our courses and workshops are designed to increase officers’ knowledge of automatic biases and stereotypes, while improving emotional awareness, perspective-taking, and communication skills. Based on research from neuroscience and psychology, our training programs are meant to shift mindsets away from “Us Vs. Them” thinking to instead build positive, sustainable community relationships across the country.

What We Offer

We offer three types of training programs, including online self-paced, instructor-led workshops, and a train-the-trainer subscription model. We also offer organizations data collection, analysis, and written reports for internal purposes. Each option is based on our Social Intelligence Training (SIT) curriculum, which is arranged into 7 modules covering a range of neuroscience and psychology topics. Each module includes several educational videos, self-reflection questions, and suggestions for behavioral exercises.

The online self-paced option provides 3-month access to the SIT curriculum. You can access the 7-hour course with any device whenever you like. This gives you the opportunity to gain new knowledge and build critical skills at your own pace. This option also provides organizations access to data on the progress of employees within that organization.
The instructor-led option delivers the SIT course as a 4-session workshop led by a trained instructor with years of experience. The modules are viewed together, followed by instructor-led discussion and interactive exercises throughout each module. Workshops tend to be 8 hours in total (each session 2 hours). These workshops are done virtually or in-person, whatever is the best fit your organization.
The train-the-trainer subscription option merges online and workshop formats. The yearly subscription provides access to the online SIT curriculum for all members of an organization. Instructors will train and certify designated employees through a 4-week workshop. This gives your organization the ability to teach new employees with in-house trainers and develop a sustainable culture of social intelligence.
